Dr. Sheryl Hemmer
Dr. Hemmer is one of our part-time veterinarians. She grew up on a farm near Humphrey, Nebraska. She always cared for animals throughout her childhood, which led her to an undergraduate degree from UNO in 2013 & a DVM from Iowa State University in 2017. Dr. Hemmer has a strong love for feline wellness. She loves pets of all shapes & sizes, but when it comes to what she is most passionate about, it’s cats! We love having a vet that specializes in feline medicine. Dr. Hemmer's personal connection to animals extends to her own pets, including two dogs, Juniper, and Joy, and four domestic cats, Mrs. Norris, Nightman, Hagrid, and Darla. These beloved companions keep Dr. Hemmer active and happy, reinforcing her understanding of the unique bond between pets and their owners. This personal insight translates into a gentle and empathetic approach, especially during the difficult process of in-home euthanasia, which she offers through CodaPet.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Hemmer's interests are as vibrant as her love for animals. Some of her interests include hiking, attending yoga classes, playing sand volleyball, traveling, or trying new food.
